Our Home Exterior Renovation

Our Home Exterior Renovation

August 10th, 2022.

We chose our home based off of location, lot size, and neighborhood. Being so close to family (literally across the street) was what ultimately sold us and you can't beat living on a cul-de-sac.

We knew that the exterior needed to be spruced up to be more "us". We personally are not fans of the red brick exterior so we decided to revamp the whole look.

Because we were adding on a 2 car garage addition, we were able to switch out our siding for the entire house. We went from a beige to the prettiest coastal grey color called "Castle Stone" by the brand Certainteed. With that, we decided to get a paint color custom mixed to match our siding to make it all look cohesive.

As you can see from above, we also removed the "lazy A" on the right side of the house. This was a very common building technique with split level homes in the 70's. Removing it and making it flush against the house with the new siding gave it that more modern coastal look that we were looking for.

We switched out our front door, the giant bay living room window, repaired our broken front stairs and ripped out the bushes at the front of the house. We also switched out our old light brown roof for a dark grey, and expanded our driveway slightly.

Our addition was the best thing we did. For those of you with split levels or raised ranches, you know we are limited on space. Adding our garage space with our main bedroom suite above allowed us to expand our living area and give us more storage that we need. We absolutely love our garage addition- big thanks to Hathaway Construction and KDK Designs for our design prints.

We still have a long way to go--especially with our landscaping but we are so excited to see how far we have come in such a short period of time!
